The Batman and Teen Titans Shared Universe?

 

 

Unlike many, I enjoyed The Batman [2004] TV Series. Upon re-watching some episodes it struck me, how much it and Teen Titans seemed to have a natural fit.

 

I am not asserting they were intended to go together. Only that one could, if one wished imagine a DC Alternate Anime 'Verse where Teen Titans existed within that framework. 

Because yes its always been sort of weird how the 89' Batman movie spawned the DCAU intentionally or not, yet while that was going, Teen Titans existed over in an isolated corner not a part of it. Of course Teen Titans wouldn't mesh so great with the DCAU. However it could exist, with a little fudging beside The Batman which could serve as a kind of prequel to it.

All of which is to say, when Robin alludes to Batman at all in the context of Teen Titans, one is probably better off thinking its the Dark Knight from The Batman, rather than Batman from Bruce Timm's TAS. 

TV Shows I Like: Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman

 

Ah the 90s!

I'd forgotten just how good Lois and Clark:The New Adventures of Superman is. Its pretty great!

I'll be upfront, The DC Animated Universe, Superman, is MY Superman. I think the animated series gave us the definitive versions of both Superman and Lex Luthor...

 

Yet Dean Cain's portrayal of a young Man of Steel is something special, he and the series bring a charm we are lacking in entertainment these days.

 

I get all warm and fuzzy watching this show. 

One of the biggest things I liked about it was - Jonathan Kent, DOES NOT DIE! Eddie Jones really helped make the show.

Of course Lane Smith as Perry White did the same. 

Overall, an earnest depiction of The Man of Steel. We need more like it!

Books I Like: Superman/Batman: Supergirl

 

Books I Like: Superman/Batman: Supergirl aka The Supergirl From Krypton

When Batman discovers a mysterious and powerful teenaged girl bent on destroying Gotham City, she soon captures the attention of Superman, Wonder Woman and even Darkseid and his Female Furies. Who is she, and whose side will she end up on? What is her connection to Superman? Why does Wonder Woman want to hide her from the outside world? How will Darkseid recruit her into doing his bidding?

I'll admit, this stuck with me upon original seeing it, mostly due to Michael Turner's gorgeous artwork and his glorious rendition of Kara Zor-El. Were he still with us, I'm certain Michael Turner's artwork would trigger all sorts of people these days.

One of the things I also enjoyed about this graphic novel was Batman and Superman's different reactions to the girl who dropped from the sky. Brought home how they are connected and yet so different.

And oh yeah, Wonder Woman's there as well completing the DC Trinity. Yes this was made into a wonderful DC Animated movie called Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, though I'd love to see a live-action version of this and wouldn't mind it were done beat for beat.

 

 Come on HBO Max! Though, in someways I'd fear an adaption being done now, since I doubt it could not end up becoming woke. Though Supergirl is a central plot point of the book, its really more about Clark and Bruce dealing with the ramifications of an untrained Kryptonian teenager rather then the teen herself. This might be glossed over in favor of a misplaced "girl power" plotline in our current environment.

Joker [And Our Unhinged Media Elite]

Let me begin by saying. I think those who worked on this movie's first purpose was to create a breakdown of what makes Batman's greatest villain, who and what he is.


I don't think the purpose was any sort of agenda, beyond taking a microscope to the Joker himself. However by accident much more outside the realm of the film itself has been revealed.

What?

Our Media is unhinged and cannot handle ANYTHING no matter how docile or even within the bounds of normalcy that even hints running against the grain of their approved narrative.

Its not so much that I like the Joker. But I do enjoy what its done to our Elite Media.

The fallout (mostly among the Twitter Elite Entertainment Media) at Joker's Oscar nominations is almost more fun than the movie that they are overreacting to. It proves none of these people should be taken seriously about much of anything, yet specifically in the case of what should and should not be included in our entertainment.

Me. I usually ignore movie reviewers. This only confirms that I have been correct to do so, and shall carry on doing so.

When JJ Abrams Gets his Mitts on Superman [It Won't be Pretty]

If you hate Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, and the present state of the DCEU now, just wait until JJ Abrams gets his mitts on Superman. It won't be a pretty picture. However I bet it will be highly praised by establishment media. If the state of Star Wars and Star Trek can help us gauge the result.


I should state upfront.

Man of Steel is my favorite movie. This is as much a surprise to me, as anyone else. But its true. I really like it. Also I don't have a hate for the DCEU Movies and in fat respect them as pieces of film making far more than Disney's Marvel Universe. I don't think they need "Fixing" as I believe they are actually genuine cinematic events which are allowed to be more or less their own things, even if they are somewhat connected to a larger whole and not cookie-cutter products such as Marvel "Event Films".

But my point is. JJ Abrams Superman, whatever form that might end up taking, is likely to be highly praised by Media, but will turn out to be hollow and use nostalgia to try to appeal, but fail even at that as it railroads what on the surface it pretends to honor.

That is JJ Abrams career thus far. Banking on nostalgia to hide the hollowness of his product.

On the bright side. In retrospect people will begin to finally appreciate the genius of Zack Snyder.
