Adult Content Warning!

Against my better judgement and under protest, I have re-engaged the Adult Content Warning.

I still believe its self-censorship, and makes it so Google... ect, downgrade one's blog in overall search.

The only reason I reinstated it AT ALL is because I've added the word "Porn" to the extended blog name and guessed not doing so might have caused problems with the Google gods.

Yes sometimes I post boobs - However the majority of the time I'm talking about Science Fiction, or my own writing, or books.

PSA over.

Now back to your regular blog!

Only Publishing On Smashwords

Smashwords, Amazon, Kindle, Publishing, Books, Reading, Science Fiction, Erotica

The whole Smashwords/Amazon setup is really dumb. But whatever. I am doing the unthinkable and opting out of Amazon Kindle. That's right now publishing ONLY to Smashwords and their normal sales channels.

This is about Amazons arbitrary censorship and book blocking. I had a book up for 4 years, went to change the price and Amazon, or its power mad purple haired gatekeeper decided it/they didn't like the erotic content.

Erotica authors make the false jump Amazon is employing "Right Wing" Christians to censor their books. Its not. Its young Liberal-Wokists doing it. Been screaming this for years.

From here on out, I shall only be publishing through Smashwords and its distribution outlets. I think Mark Coker is a sincere champion of Independent Authors and of free speech and probably a last bulwark standing athwart the Big Box Corporatism which we have begun to directly experience.

What does this mean? Well, you are very unlikely to find one of my books, at least those that are not already there on Amazon - Kindle. At least for the moment those that are there will remain, since I don't want to tip over the ah..., apple cart.

I can hear the gasps already. I'd advise you to buy directly from Smashwords - Cause then the ebook is yours. When you purchase on Amazon its just a "loan" same goes for I-Apple and its closed garden. Just a loan. There will always be a direct link to Smashwords in a book post. I get the best deal out of this and have the most control.

Censoring, Enid Blyton?

Censoring, Enid Blyton?

I just stumbled across an author from "long ago", Enid Blyton. In the process of this discovery, I also learned present day editors, and publishers are censoring scenes in her books.

I can't even begin to put into words, how I view this as a moral outrage and a dangerous path to take.

THERE IS ZERO MORAL STANDING to do such a thing. To argue otherwise, is to aid, and abed in the destruction of history.

Just because a book or story does not match present day views, it does not provide license to change that work, even if you are the current day copyright holder of that work. Your job is to preserve the author's original intent, not change it to fit your moral viewpoint, or sanitize it in any manner.

It amazes me, the same group of people who crow about "Banned Books" from a moral high-horse, during say "Banned Books Week", are also the same people who would cancel those with whom they disagree.
